On May 27, 2009 the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative accepted a $10,000 grant from State Farm Insurance to conduct a two day seminar on school safety. The seminar is open to all educators from WKEC’s 28 member districts and will concentrate on training participants on how to identify and guide out of harm’s way potentially volatile or violent behavior in our schools. The seminar will be facilitated by the program’s creator, nationally renowned Dan Korem. The program will be held July 28 and 29 at Murray State University’s Martha Layne Collins Center for Industry and Technology. WKEC educators may register for this free seminar by linking to the tab to the right under July labeled School Threat Assessment: The Art of Profiling. WKEC leases a 4,200 sq. ft. building located at the West Kentucky Outlet Mall in Eddyville, Kentucky. The space has been converted into a spacious meeting and conference center equipped with tables and seating for groups up to 125 participants. The Cooperative utilizes this center to focus and expand the delivery of high quality professional development opportunities to education throughout the service region.
